Cast of Voice Actors Announced for ‘Blade Runner: Black Lotus’ at Adult Swim and Crunchyroll, Including Jessica Henwick, Samira Wiley, Brian Cox, and More

It’s a big day for the upcoming Adult Swim and Crunchyroll animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, as it announced its entire cast of voice actors on Wednesday morning. Featuring a double cast of both Japanese and English actors, the announcement is a welcome chunk of information as fans are still awaiting the first look at the series, which debuts during Comic-Con on July 23, via Deadline

The highly anticipated series will air the English language episodes on Adult Swim’s anime programming, while offering the Japanese language episodes to stream on Crunchyroll with subtitles. Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) direct all thirteen episodes of the first season. Both versions of the series will be available to stream on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim worldwide. 

Without further adieu, the cast of Blade Runner: Black Lotus features Jessica Henwick (Underwater), Arisa Shida (Two Car), Will Yun Lee (Altered Carbon), Shinshu Fuji (JoJos Bizarre Adventure), Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), Takako Honda (Great Pretender), Brian Cox (Succession), Wes Bentley (Yellowstone), Josh Duhamel (Jupiter’s Legacy), Taiten Kusunoki (Promare), Peyton List (Cobra Kai), Yoshiko Sakakibara (Psycho Pass: The Movie), Stephen Root (Barry), Hochu Otsuka (Naruto), Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Takayuki Kinba, Gregg Henry (Body Double), Masane Tsukayama (Fullmetal Alchemist), Henry Czerny (Sharp Objects), Akio Nojima (Saint Seiya), Jason Spisak (Pacific Rim: The Black) and Kazuki Yao (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger)

In addition, Deadline picked up the complete roster of who the actors will be voicing, complete with character descriptions: “Henwick/Shida voice Elle, a female replicant created for a secret and unknown purpose. Lee/Fuji voice Joseph, a mysterious figure who owns a spare parts junkyard in Los Angeles. Wiley/Hona voice Alani Davis, a fresh LAPD recruit. Cox/Hashi voice Niander Wallace Sr, founder and CEO of the Wallace Corporation. Bentley/Koyasu voice Niander Wallace Jr, brilliant scientist working for his father. Duhamel/Kusunoki voice Marlowe, a deadly Blade Runner. List/Sakakibara voice Josephine Grant, the wife of the police chief. Root/Otsuka voice Earl Grant, Police Chief of the LAPD. Abdi/Kinba voice Doc Badger, a black market dealer. Henry/Tsukayama voice Senator Bannister, a politician with strong feelings on replicant production. Spisak/Yao voice Hooper, a journalist in the pocket of the Wallace Corporation.”

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is based off the Blade Runner film franchise, including the original 1982 film, Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott (Thelma & Louise) and starring Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), in addition to the 2019 sequel Blade Runner: 2049 directed by Denis Villaneuve (Arrival). The original Blade Runner is often credited as being one of the most influential science-fiction films, setting forth a foundation for the genre in the decades that followed.
