Bruce Lee-Inspired Crime Series ‘Warrior’ Renewed for a Third Season at HBO Max

The crime series based on martial artist extraordinaire Bruce Lee’s (The Way of the Dragon) writings, Warrior, has received a renewal for a third season at HBO Max, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The previous two seasons of the show, Cinemax’s last original, appeared in HBO Max’s catalog earlier in 2021.

Set during the late 1800s, the series takes place during the Tong Wars in San Francisco’s Chinatown, where Ah Sahm, played by Andrew Koji (Fast & Furious 6), has traveled to look for his sister, Xiaojing.

Among the rest of Warrior’s cast are Kieran Bew (Liar), Celine Buckens (War Horse), Olivia Cheng (Marco Polo), Dianne Doan (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Dean Jagger (Game of Thrones), Langley Kirkwood (Mia and the White Lion), Maria-Elena Laas (Vida), Hoon Lee (Bosch), Christian McKay (Me and Orson Welles), Dustin Nguyen (This Is Us), Miranda Raison (My Week with Marilyn), Chen Tang (Grey’s Anatomy), Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption), Jason Tobin (Jasmine), Joanna Vanderham (What Maisie Knew), Tom Weston-Jones (Copper) and Perry Yung (John Wick: Chapter 2).

Lee’s official Instagram account released an announcement video for the renewal containing much of the cast and Lee’s own daughter Shannon, who executive produces the series.

“Our show Warrior has the best fans,” Shannon Lee said. “You guys have shown us so much love and support. Now we have something to share with you.”

Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) is the series creator and serves as executive producer alongside Shannon Lee and Justin Lin, who directed Fast & Furious 9.

Shannon Lee also said she was excited to continue producing the same quality show that they have worked to create thus far.

“I just know that my father is grinning right now to see this show he dreamed of so long ago continuing to beat the odds,” Shannon Lee said, in a statement according to Deadline. “We have every intention of delivering the same high level of meaningful storytelling and Gung Fu action in season three.”
