Brandon Routh bids farewell to ‘Legends Of Tomorrow.’

Legends Of Tomorrow veteran, Brandon Routh, will be hanging up his cape and lab coat this season as he is leaving the long running CW series as reported by Entertainment Weekly. Routh made his first appearance in the legendary Arrowverse on the third season of Arrow, playing the role of brilliant scientist Ray Palmer who later went on to become The Atom, a superhero with a mechanical suit that granted him the ability to shrink his body. Routh later went on to star in his own spinoff, Legends Of Tomorrow, which paired him with a group of colorful characters as they traveled through time to preserve history. Before Routh has made his grand exit, Routh’s penned a love letter to fans on his instagram that reminds us all why he’ll be so sorely missed.

Routh’s departure also marks yet another shift into a brand new phase and era in the Arrowverse. The CW is in the process of making several pivotal changes to their superhero brand, including a spinoff to Arrow, Green Arrow and the Canaries, the newcomer Batwoman, and Superman and Lois show that will be hitting small screens soon. Routh, himself, will also be donning Superman’s outfit one more time in the upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event that will see several superheroes, past, present and possibly even future, unite against a dangerous threat that jeopardizes all of existence. With Routh about to say his goodbye to the Arrowverse, it seems only fitting that that he gives longtime fans a treat by paying homage to his first superhero role. Even though Routh will no longer be with us, it’s clear that he’s going out with a bang.

“It hasn’t always been easy,” Routh says. “but I think that’s what makes it harder to leave-getting through the growing pains of the first few seasons has bonded us. And made the last three seasons a blast!”
