Boyce Avenue to Tackle Latino Stereotypes for Bilingual Series on Univision

According to tubefilter, Boyce Avenue, the band who became widely popular through YouTube, is set to star in a new series for Univision titled Stereotype. The group is comprised of brothers Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano. The trio are well-known known for their engaging acoustic covers in addition to their originals. Boyce Avenue have collaborated with multiple artists including Fifth Harmony, Megan Nicole, and Carly Rose Sonenclar. Adam Boorstin, Studio 71’s EVP of global digital distribution and Dana Shayegan, the VP of music will serve as producers for Stereotype.

In the upcoming bilingual show, the band will tackle typical Latino culture stereotypes through a comedic lens. Whether they will either debunk those stereotypes or prove them true, remains to be seen. The series will consist of five episodes and the topics the show will explore include sports, food, fashion, and more from a Hispanic point of view. The first episode of Stereotype will air on Univision Trends, a channel from the American Spanish language TV network that focuses on culture, fashion, and food.

In a statement the brothers said “Not only is the series a great way to get meaningful conversations started about stereotypes within the community, it’s also a really fun way to give fans a closer look at the Hispanic culture — its traditions, ethics and values.”

Dan Weinstein, president of Studio71, the MCN that has repped Boyce Avenue since last year said “Stereotype is an excellent vehicle that extends Boyce Avenue’s digital presence and brand to new digital platforms and audiences.” In 2007, Boyce Avenue launched their YouTube channel and currently have over 8.5 million subscribers and are approaching 3 billion lifetime views. The group has toured around the world in 25 countries and five continents.
