Amazon Prime Video’s critically lauded police procedural Bosch airs its seventh and final season during the summer of 2021, but the titular detective’s crime-solving days are far from being over. Titus Welliver (Deadwood, The Town) will reportedly reprise his role as Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch in yet-untitled spinoff on IMDb TV, according to Deadline. The series would allegedly represent the first spinoff of an Amazon Prime original series, as reported by Deadline.
Aside from Welliver, a couple of other cast members are allegedly reprising their roles from the original series, namely Madison Lintz (The Walking Dead, Along Came the Devil) and Mimi Rogers (Reflections on Crime, Ginger Snaps), as reported by Deadline. Zetna Fuentes (One Life to Live, How to Get Away With Murder), who previously directed episodes from Bosch‘s fourth and sixth seasons, has been attached as the director of the spinoff’s pilot episode, Deadline reports. Production is set to commence later on in 2021, according to Deadline.
Eric E. Overmyer (Treme, Homicide: Life on the Street) and best-selling author Michael Connelly (The Law of Innocence, Void Moon), the latter of whom introduced the world to the character of Harry Bosch via series of novels that began back in the early 1990s, will maintain their shared status as the franchise’s executive producers, Deadline reports. Connelly posted on his Twitter to personally thank Bosch‘s highly devoted fan community for allowing the spinoff to get picked up.
The new series will reportedly follow Bosch as he teams up with the whip-smart and unscrupulous civil rights attorney Honey “Money” Chandler (Rogers) to uphold the twin principles of justice and order in a world riddled with crime and disorder, according to Deadline. While Chandler did not appear until the third installment in Connelly’s original series of novels, the character has been foundational presence in the world of the show. She even appeared in “The Bone Run,” the original version of Bosch‘s pilot episode, although in that incarnation, the role was played by Amy Price-Francis (The Cleaner, King). Rogers took over Price-Francis’s role when the series got picked up and thusly appears as Chandler in the show’s first proper episode, a slightly amended version of “The Bone Run” titled “‘Tis the Season.”
