‘Bones’ Actor David Boreanaz to Star in Navy SEAL Drama

According to Variety, Jim Caviezel (veteran actor of Person of Interest) said goodbye to CBS’s new untitled Navy SEAL drama pilot due to creative differences.

This Tuesday, March 28 fans of Bones will also have to say goodbye to the Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) after 12 seasons of fighting crime, solving murders, and witty Scully-and-Mulder-like banter. Bones has been running since 2005. For perspective, that is two years before the first iPhone was released.

Booth (left) and Bones (right) both made their ‘Bones’ debut with the pilot episode on September 13, 2005.

However, The Hollywood Reporter reports that we will be seeing more of David Boreanaz in his first post-Bones gig. He has replaced Jim Caviezel in the lead role on a yet untitled Navy SEAL drama pilot. Boreanaz’s character Booth on Bones was a sniper for the Army Rangers and member of the Special Forces. So even if Boreanaz hasn’t seen any military action himself, he knows how to act like a man in uniform.

David Boreanaz will play Jason: he is the leader of an assault team, been deployed more than a dozen times, and devoted to his team and his job. He leads an elite unit as they attempt to execute the most important, dangerous, and impactful missions possible for the United States military to execute.

Also included in the main cast are actors A.J. Buckley, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., Jessica Pare, and Toni Trucks. A.J. Buckley plays a loyal but reckless and self-destructive Navy SEAL Sonny. Max Thieriot plays a young talented man who seems to be all confidence but hides his real insecurities. Neil Brown Jr. plays Ray; a seasoned member of the elite unit and trusted asset to Jason. Toni Trucks will be the logistics officer named Diaz.

The new pilot was written by Ben Cavell. Cavell, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, and Chris Chulack are set as executive producers, with Chris Chulack doubling as director.
