Bob Odenkirk Revives Saul Goodman To Remind Americans Of Their Rights In Celebration Of America 250

Bob Odenkirk (Nobody, Saturday Night Live) has revived Saul Goodman in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. While in character, Odenkirk took to Instagram to remind Americans of their inalienable rights, set against a backdrop of the Constitution.  Watch the full clip below.

Odenkirk started the clip, “Hi, I’m Saul Goodman. Did you know you have rights? Well you do! Sure, they’re old-timey. They were written by a bunch of guys in powdered wigs and knee socks. Boring! But believe it or not they are still surprisingly relevant.

After quickly naming the four amendments followed by a few etceteras for the rest, Odenkirk said, “Wow, you lucky so and so. Look at you. You got rights coming out the wazoo. All because a whole bunch of good people, 250 years worth, sacrificed everything they had for this awesome wallpaper behind me. Know your rights and for the love of Mike don’t ever give them up. The video ends with a brief cameo from Jonathon Banks (The Beast In Me, The Comey Rule), who played the aforementioned Mike, stating “Hi, I’m Mike, and I approve this message.”

Odenkirk first appeared as Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad in 2009. The character would later star in his own prequel series, Better Call Saul. Goodman is morally flexible attorney who helps Walt build his empire. Better Call Saul follows Goodman’s descent from Public Defender into the world of criminal activity. While perhaps not a law-abiding citizen, Goodman was definitely a fan of your rights, having spent his life defending or aiding criminals.

Both the series and Odenkirk received widespread critical acclaim and are often cited amongst the greatest television of all time. Although nominated six times at the Emmys for his portrayal of Goodman, it never translated to a win. The show would eventually hold the record for the most nominations without a win, with 53.
