58-year-old Ben Odenkirk (Breaking Bad) was rushed to the hospital Tuesday after collapsing on the set of the Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, in Albequerque, via The Associated Press. The cause of his collapse is unknown.
Crew members on set called an ambulance for Odenkirk immediately after his collapse, and he has remained in the hospital since last night. People close to Odenkirk did not confirm what was the cause of his collapse, neither did representatives from AMC.
Better Call Saul is currently in production of its sixth and final season. The Breaking Bad prequel follows Jim McGill (Odenkirk), a former con man who wants to become a respectable lawyer but becomes increasingly corrupt and transforms into the persona of Saul Goodman over the six years before the events of the original series.
Odenkirk was nominated for four Emmys playing the titular character and won two Emmys for his writing on The Ben Stiller Show on Fox and Saturday Night Live on NBC. He is also known for his work on HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show and films such as The Post, Little Women, and Nobody.
Co-star Michael McKean, who plays Chuck McGill in the show, gave his best wishes to Odenkirk on Twitter.
The final season of Better Call Saul is expected to air in 2022.
