Bethany Joy Lenz has signed onto the first of E!’s two scripted pilots, Deadline has learned.
The pilot titled Songbyrd is executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. The Dexter actress will play Lauren Byrd, a writer of hit love songs who employees a small staff to enable and manage her eccentric yet wildly successful process. When her ex-fiance reveals himself to be less than the man she remembers, Lauren must step out of the past she is living in and find a new, true inspiration.
Uni TV and Universal Cable Productions will co-produce while Michael Morris directs.
Lenz is repped by Gresh, Untitled and attorney Adam Kaller. In addition to Dexter, she starred in the CW’s hit drama One Tree Hill.
