The Star Wars Celebration in Chicago was a hit amongst fans of the series who came from near and far to witness the spectacle of the popular franchise. Available on a live stream, fans were able to watch interviews with actors from the movies, directors, and even get the worldwide scoop on some upcoming adventures. One thing that viewers at home were not able to see online was the trailer, a scene, and a behind the scenes featurette of the new live action Star Wars show, The Mandalorian.
Pedro Pascal stars as the mysterious bounty hunter who has been confirmed not to be Boba Fett.
“I don’t know what I can and can’t say,” said Pascal. “The Mandorlian is a mysterious lone gunfighter on the outer reaches of the galaxy. Some would say he has low moral character…he’s. badass.”
The series takes place between the events of Return of the Jedi – five years after Darth Vader’s death – and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
A behind the scenes featurette reveals the making of the series, use of practical effects, and interviews with the cast, including creator, showrunner, and executive producer Jon Favreau who was also present on the panel.
“Star Wars at its core has to feel hand-made and practical,” said Favreau. “So we have a lot of audio-animatronics and puppetry, all the techniques that we’ve used from the beginning.”
The scene shown after the live stream starts off with a meeting between the Mandalorian and Carl Weathers’s character, Greef Carga, who is the leader of a bounty group.
“There seems to be a lot of nefarious people,” said Weathers. “He’s looking for someone to go after a product that he wants to bring to a client that’s worth a lot and that’s very valuable, and guess who he finds? He finds a bounty hunter named ‘Mandalorian.’ And The Mando is a guy that he figures can get the job done so he hires this guy, sends him out there and the Mando does what needs to be done.”
The Mandalorian then meets with Werner Herzog‘s character, whose name hasn’t been revealed yet. He will be commissioning his payment for the bounty brought back to him, whether dead or alive. The Mandalorian accepts the deal.
A teaser trailer is then shown to the live audience. A fight breaks out between former shock trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and the Mandalorian. Giancarlo Esposito, who is still loyal to the Empire, is surrounded by Stormtroopers. We get glimpse of an IG droid going into action. The crowd showed quite a reaction in the room and on Twitter.

The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ on its launch date of November 12.
