BBC’s ‘Killing Eve’ Prequel ‘Honey’ Has Cast In Place

According to Deadline, BBC has announced the cast in its Killing Eve prequel series, Honey. Expected to be one of the network’s biggest launches this year, Deadline reported on the two series’ connection last year.

According to Deadline, BBC was proud to reveal Ann Skelly (Rose Plays Julie, The Nevers) will play the main lead, Martha Schmitt; Nate Mann (Apples Never Fall, Masters of the Air) plays Kurt Fischer; Jannis Niewöhner (Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue) will play Friedrich Bauman; and Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful, Toxic Town) will play Graham Anderson.

There are a few other actors joining the cast, according to Deadline. Oliver Cudbill (Flower, My Lady Jane) playing Stefan Weiss, Sonita Henry (The Chelsea Detective, Role Play) as Anne Anderson, Victoria Mayer (Berlin Station, Die Wolke) as Ingrid Schimmel, Valentino Dalle Mura (Honey, Drift – Partners in Crime) who plays Rolf Muller, July Namir (Collateral, Homeland) playing Kamilla Akhmedova, Julian Niedermeier (No Hard Feelings, Game Over) who plays Otto Kowalski, Sofia Oxenham (Death in Paradise, Dracula) who plays Greta Abstreiter and Daniel Zielinski (The Final Tape, Honey) as Tomas Klein.

Deadline reports that the show revolves around Schmitt as an undercover MI6 agent encompassed by enemies who threaten to reveal her true identity. She works tirelessly to stay a step ahead of her main adversary, Freidrich, who leads the Stasi Head of Counterespionage against the Britain.

Deadline notes that last year, they reported that Schmitt is a younger Carolyn Martens from Killing Eve. Other than that, BBC refuses to say more about Honey or about the show being a prequel. The prequel was ordered by Lindsay Salt (The Cage, The Damned United) of BBC Drama and Frank Seyberth (The Three Musketeers: Milady, Harry Wild) of ZDF’s Head of Coproduction, International Fiction. Production is made by BBC Studios’s Sid Gentle Films of with Fifth Season. Emme Hoy (He Had It Coming, Totally Completely Fine) also is a writer of Honey. The show is also produced by Sally Woodward Gentle (Any Human Heart, White Chapel) and Lee Morris (Extraordinary, Killing Eve) for Sid Gentle Films and the producer is Christopher Hall (The Day of The Jackal, Burn Up). Toby MacDonald (Heavy Metal Drummer, Old Boys) directs the first three episodes and Michelle Savill (Sex Education, Bats) directs the last three episodes.
