A new teaser trailer has been released for the sixtieth anniversary special episodes of BBC’s Doctor Who. The decades-long series is expected to premiere late next year with three episodes and open a path for newcomers Millie Gibson (Love, Lies, and Records; Coronation Street) and Ncuti Gatwa (The Last Letter from Your Lover, Sex Education) as companion Ruby Sunday and the Fifteenth Doctor, respectively.

The trailer, though one minute, includes several actors, such as David Tennant (Fright Night, Broadchurch), Catherine Tate (Love and Other Disasters, Starter for 10), and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, A Series of Unfortunate Events), and features monsters. News of Tennant’s return was revealed last month, along with previous cast members Paul McGann (The Three Musketeers, Luther), Colin Baker (More Than a Messiah, Doctor Who: Dimensions in Time), Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World, Shallow Grave), Tom Baker (Doctor Who: Shada, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad), and Sylvester McCoy (Sense8, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey). Harris’ debut was announced in June, although no details on his character have been reported. A Deadline interview with Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies (Torchwood, It’s A Sin) said Harris’ character would be the “greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced.”
After three seasons, this also marks the end of Jodie Whittaker’s (Broadchurch, Attack the Block) role as the Thirteenth Doctor. Her last episode was in the feature-length special Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor.

The new episodes will air in November 2023 on BBC and Disney+, following an agreement between both companies. Seasons one through thirteen of the show are currently available on HBO Max.
