BBC America has cast Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter in the new 90-minute movie Burton and Taylor.
West and Carter will be playing the title roles of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Unfortunately, these roles were last seen in the Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick”. The lifetime movie starred Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler–and it flopped famously.
Despite this, BBC is excited to undertake this challenge. Huffington Post reports that in a statement of BBC Worldwide America General Manager Perry Simon said, “We are thrilled to bring ‘Burton and Taylor’ to BBC America’s Dramaville. With the incredibly talented and award-winning Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West in the title roles and a compelling script from William Ivory, ‘Burton and Taylor’ captures the final and complicated reunion on stage of two British and Hollywood icons. We’re excited to tell this story in the tradition of the great BBC dramas our audience has come to expect.”
According to Indiewire, the hour and a half long drama is directed by Richaqrd Laxton and written by William Ivory. “Burton and Taylor” will premiere on BBC America this fall.
