Bachelor in Paradise may be indefinitely suspended, but that doesn’t mean that the love created on the series has been canceled. E! News reported last night that Carly Waddell and Evan Bass have officially tied the knot.
The two lovebirds met last summer while filming Season 3 of ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise. While Evan was smitten with Carly from the beginning, Carly originally wanted nothing to do with him. After many pity dates, Carly began to fall for Evan. The unlikely couple became engaged during the season finale, along with three other couples. Unsurprisingly, Carly and Evan, known to some fans as “Cevan,” are the only couple to remain engaged from the season.
The wedding took place at a beach near Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Bachelor Nation’s host Chris Harrison officiated the ceremony. According to E! News, decorations at the beach wedding included colorful strands of Mexican pom poms lining trees around where the ceremony took place. Many Bachelor alumni were in attendance including Nick Viall, Vanessa Grimaldi, and Kaitlin Bristowe.
Many fans of The Bachelor franchise will not be surprised to learn that Neil Lane designed both of the wedding rings. Lane is famous for designing the rings used for each proposal on the franchise.
The wedding was originally intended to be featured on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise. Due to claims of misconduct and current investigation, the production for the series has been put on suspension. Bass recently spoke in support of the series in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter. “When the news about Paradise production broke the internet, it also broke my heart,” he wrote. “While to some it’s a silly TV show, for me, it was an experience that changed my life in unimaginable ways. I am troubled thinking about the allegations happening on my favorite beach, and I’m sad that some couples will not have the opportunity to find love in a powerful and unique way.”
Bass went on to explain that during his many experiences with the franchise, he has never had a problem with the way production is run and the way contestants are portrayed. “As someone who got a bad ‘edit’ on The Bachelorette, it drives me nuts when news hits and former Bachelor contestants come out of the woodwork to cry about their bad edit or how terribly they were treated. Usually, it’s the ones who didn’t get the acclaim or followers they felt they deserved,” he said. “But in all reality, we are at least cognizant of the fact that we may not look great. Most of us falsely assume we are going to come across on the screen looking like champions and don’t see ourselves as ‘villains,’ so how could they make us look like that?”
While Bachelor in Paradise as a series has no yet been cancelled, it’s safe to assume fans will not be returning to paradise this summer.
