Ayo Edebiri Replaces Jenny Slate as Voice of Missy in Netflix’s ‘Big Mouth’

Big Mouth hires Ayo Edebiri (Sunnyside)  o take over for Jenny Slate (Kroll Show, Parks and Recreation) in the Netflix series, according to Variety. Edebiri’s version of Missy will be introduced in the penultimate episode of season 4. For the first half of the season, Slate will provide the voice since she had already recorded all her dialogue.

Edebiri has already recorded her lines and the season is due to premiere this fall. She was brought on as a writer for season 5 before the recasting of Missy. Big Mouth has already been renewed for a 6th season.

Slate announced her departure from the show on Instagram in June.

Edebiri was a writer on the NBC series Sunnyside before landing her Big Mouth gig. She is most known for being a stand-up comedian and has been featured in Forbes magazine. Additionally, she hosts a podcast called Iconography for Forever Dog Podcast Network. Her upcoming projects include co-producing the animated series Mulligan for Netflix, from creators Tina Fey (SNL, Mean Girls) and Robert Carlock (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Edebiri will also star opposite of Ben Schwartz (Space Force) in the Netflix comedy We Lost Our Human. She’ll also be writing and acting in Apple TV’s second season of Dickinson.

The Big Mouth Twitter account tweeted at Edebiri about the exciting news.
