Avatar Kyoshi to be Heavily Involved in Upcoming ‘ATLA’ Project.

Talks of another iteration of the Avatar cycle in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe have been rumored for about a year now. Now there is confirmation that Avatar Kyoshi the Earth Kingdom warrior will be heavily involved in the upcoming series according to ScreenRant. The series will likely take place in the earlier years of the Avatar world. Kyoshi is two places before Airbender Aang in the Avatar cycle; in between them was Avatar Roku, whose dispute with Fire Lord Ozai started the 100 Years War, meaning that the new story will take place before the events of The Last Airbender and the scourge of the Fire Nation.

Avatar Kyoshi and her team of benders and warriors were the inspiration for the Kyoshi warriors in the Avatar: The Last Airbender series led by Suki who later became a part of Team Avatar. Kyoshi and the Kyoshi warriors have standards of female empowerment, trust, loyalty, and honor. Kyoshi was responsible for the creation of the Dai Li, a covert operation of elite earth benders working from the shadows in Earth Kingdom capital Ba Sing Se.

So far fans have only seen Kyoshi resembled as a spirit to help the avatar in time of struggle or distress, or in the form of a dedication whether using the avatar’s name for islands, statues, memorials and warriors. It’ll be a nice change of pace to see Kyoshi in action, along with her compatriots from the graphic novels who will be making an appearance: the fire-bending mentor He-Ran, bodyguard Rang and personal rival to Kyoshi, Run. There is no information on when or how they will be appearing, just that they will be involved somehow reports Avatar News.

The last project from Avatar: The Last Airbender was The Legend of Korra, following the next generation of the Avatar cycle after the death of Aang the Airbender. The Water Tribe native goes on journeys involving a more industrialized universe involving cars, planes, trains, and other significant technological advances. Korra ending her journey opening a third portal into the spirit realm heightening the power and range of bending across the world. This allowed a new Earth Avatar that inspired the series currently in production.

Also in the works is a sequel film to Avatar: The Last Airbender following the Gaang through adulthood. Viewers will see Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko altering the state of the world between the four factions by bending and creating more inventions and techniques to further advance the community. Their work eventuallycreates Republic City, a hub for all types of people from around the globe. The movie is set to release in October of 2025 and is likely to involve Kyoshi and Roku’s spirit guiding Aang on another journey.
