According to Variety, Arrested Development will be leaving Netflix on March 15. This will include the first three seasons that originally aired on Fox and the two seasons after that were produced by Netflix. The removal is due to a licensing agreement that is set to expire on the removal day.
This will be the first time that Netflix has scrubbed one of its original content, according to Variety. This isn’t new for streaming platform as it has become a trend for platforms such as Showtime and HBO Max. Arrested Development is also still currently streaming on Hulu which like 20th Century Fox is owned by Disney.
Arrested Development is a comedy series that originally aired on Fox in 2003. Although the series won an Emmy award for best comedy series in 2004, it was shortly canceled in 2006. While trying to save the business, he has to juggle the different wants and needs of his spoiled siblings and his mother while also being a good role model for his son George Michael.
The series includes Jason Bateman (Ozark), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Portia de Rossi (Cursed), Will Arnett (Murderville), Alia Shawkat (Broad City), Tony Hale (Veep), David Cross (Megamind), Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent), Jessica Walter (Archer) and Henry Winkler (Barry).
