‘Arrested Development’ Season 5 Premiere Date and Trailer

The Bluth’s are back! Netflix has dropped a trailer for season 5 of Arrested Development. The series will premiere on the streaming studio May 29.

Jason Bateman, Tony Hale, Portia deRossi, Michael Cera and crew return with big plans for the family. Lindsay (de Rossi) is taking a stab at “becoming part of the problem’ by running for Congress. George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) is getting them recognition as family of the year. And it appears that Buster (Hale) has a bone, er, well, robotic finger, to pick with Michael.

Series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced earlier this month that he had re-cut season 4 and released it on Netflix. This change produced 22 episodes (as opposed to the original 15) which led to rumors that Hurwitz is looking to release the show for syndication. Taking the shows from 30+ minute episodes to 22 minute episodes (with some unseen footage) makes it prime for a return to its original format on Fox.

Arrested Development cast members are now unhappy with this change and are requesting additional compensation.

This little stunt gives Hurwitz more cash in his pocket, but not the cast. According to a story from The Hollywood Reporter, most cast members were compensated $100,000 each for stand-alone episodes, $50,000 for each episode with lesser screen time, and then $25,000 an episode with minimal screen time.

There has been no official word from either Netflix or 20th TV on the matter. In the meantime, enjoy all the Bluth you can handle on Netflix.
