Apple TV Comedy Series, Created By Jason Keller, Adds ‘Loki’ Alum Owen Wilson As Main Star

Loki alum Owen Wilson (Bottle Rocket, Starsky & Hutch, Wedding Crashers) has been added to the cast as the main star of new untitled Apple TV comedy series, Deadline reports. Wilson will also be the executive producer of the series, which is created and written by Jason Keller (A Good Day to Die Hard, Mirror Mirror, Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie), who wrote Ford v Ferrari.

Wilson’s character, according to Deadline, is Pryce Cahill, an ex-golfer. He used to be a pro, but his career went under the rails 20 years ago due to an unknown situation. Since he is fired from his current job at a sporting goods store in Indiana, and his wife leaves him, Pryce has to find a way to survive, so he puts his bets on a 17-year-old golfer who is currently troubled and coaches him to victory.

According to Deadline, in addition to Wilson and Keller, other executive producers of the show include Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones, The Final Cut and The Expendables) of Entertainment 360, Rodney Ferrell (Zorro, Pinches Momias), Howard T. Owens (30 Days, Jackie, Hillary) and Ben Silverman (The Office, MacGruber, Ugly Betty) of Propagate Content, and Natalie Sandy (WeCrashed, Little America, Good Boys) and Lee Eisenberg (The Office, Year One, Little America) of Piece of Work Productions. Bill Callahan (Scrubs, Lethal Weapon, Spin City) and Chris Moynihan (A Mighty Wind, Marlon, 100 Questions) will also serve as executive producers. The series is directed by Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks, Fleshman Is in Trouble) and Jonathan Dayton (Make Me A Movie, Ruby Sparks, Little Miss Sunshine), and it is produced by Apple Studios.

Wilson’s movie and TV show credits include the comedic performance in Zoolander as well as The Internship, alongside Vince Vaughn (Unfinished Business, The Watch, True Detective). He also starred as Nate Pullman in Wonder and as the witty Mobius in Marvel’s Loki, alongside Tom Hiddleston (Thor: Ragnarok, Crimson Peak, The Night Manager). According to Deadline, the most recent projects of Wilson are the thriller Lips Like Sugar, directed by Brantley Gutierrez (Will Butler: Anna, Devil Town, Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond), and the remake of Disney’s Haunted Mansion.

According to Deadline, Wilson is represented by UTA and Bob Wallerstein at Hirsch, Wallerstein, Hayum, Matlof and Fishman. Keller, instead, is represented by Entertainment 360 and CAA.

The Apple TV comedy series doesn’t have a filming or release date yet.
