Apple TV+’s ‘Foundation’ Makes Crew Changes

According to Deadline,  the Apple TV+ series Foundation is set to make more changes before it resumes filming the third season. The show was delayed due to budgeting and physical production issues. However, filming is set to begin again on March 6th in Czech Republic capital Prague and four Polish cities: Warsaw, Kraków, Lublin and Katowice.

Laurie Borg (Black Mirror), who was producer and co-executive producer on season two is set to be leaving. Doug Moreno (Godzilla), who was going to be a production controller for the third season, will be taking over as line producer, said Deadline. Along with these changes, executive producer Bill Bost (World War Z) will be moving to Prague. Bost witnessed the debut of Foundation as President of Skydance Television. He stepped down from his position as President of Skydance Television in November of 2022, striking a producing deal with an indie studio.

David S. Goyer (Blade), co-developer, executive producer, and showrunner of Foundation, is set to continue his work in the series from Los Angeles as a writer and executive producer. According to Deadline, he will not be directing all of season three, but his replacement has yet to be made final.

While Foundation did film for several weeks in 2023, Deadline said that about half of the third season has been trashed. It was originally postponed due to the strikes, and later for the issues mentioned above. The budget was also brought down.

The official synopsis, via Deadline, states that the series revolves around “a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. It follows the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.”
