Apple TV has announced the premiere date for its upcoming comedy series Brothers. According to Deadline, the series starring Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar, Dallas Buyers Club, The Lost Bus) and Woody Harrelson (Natural Born Killers, The Hunger Games, Now You See Me) will debut on September 23 with its first two episodes.
Starring and executive produced by McConaughey and Harrelson, Brothers features fictionalized versions of the longtime friends. The series follows the pair after they uncover a decades-old secret that suggests they may actually be brothers. Following the collapse of his daughter’s wedding, Woody relocates his family to Matthew’s Texas ranch, where their friendship is thrown into further turmoil by the unexpected revelation.
According to the official synopsis, the situation becomes even more complicated after Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor (The Morning Show, Two and a Half Men), accidentally reveals information that reignites questions about the pair’s family history. At the same time, Matthew finds himself considering a run for Governor of Texas, creating additional challenges as both men attempt to navigate their evolving relationship.
The series also stars Natalie Martinez (Death Race, End of Watch), Brittany Ishibashi (Grace and Frankie, Tom Swift), Nolan Almeida (Christmas on Repeat, Fish), Ella Grace Helton (Sweet Magnolias, United We Fall), Noah Carganilla (Brothers), Highdee Kuan (The Brothers Sun, This Is Us), Oona Yaffe (Sleepy Hollow, Before You Know It), and Taylor.
Brothers is produced by Paramount Television Studios and serves as the latest collaboration between McConaughey and Harrelson, who have maintained a close friendship for many decades. The series is showrun and executive produced by Lee Eisenberg (The Office, Jury Duty Presents, Year One).
Additional executive producers include Natalie Sandy (WeCrashed, Little America), David West Read (Schitt’s Creek, The Big Door Prize), Trish Hofmann (Gringo, The Dark Tower, The Ruins), Bill Bost (World War Z, Star Trek Into Darkness, G.I.
