This morning Apple TV+ dropped the trailer for the third season of Truth Be Told. The anthology series stars Gabrielle Union (Deliver Us From Eva, Being Mary Jane) and Octavia Spencer (The Help, Hidden Figures) and is based on the novel by Kathleen Barber titled Are You Sleeping.
Truth Be Told follows Poppy Scoville, played by Spencer, an investigative reporter turned true crime podcaster who risks everything in search of the truth. The ten-episode third season’s plot is about Spencer’s Poppy teaming up with an unorthodox principal, played by Union, to keep the names of a few missing Black girls in the lime light , while also chasing down leads to a suspected sex trafficking ring that may have abducted them, according to Variety.
The returning cast of the third season of Truth Be Told, according to TV Line, include Mekhi Phifer (Paid in Full, Shaft) portraying Markus, Haneefah Wood (Freedomland, Nurse Jackie) portraying Cydie, Tami Roman (Moonlight, The Family Business) portraying Lillian, Ron Cephus Jones (Luke Cage, This Is Us) portraying Leander, David Lyons (Safe Haven, Revolution) portraying Detective Aames, Tracie Thoms (Deathproof, Rent) portraying Desiree, Mychala Faith Lee (The Spiderwick Chronicles, End of the Road) portraying Trini, and Merle Dandridge (The Night Shift, Greenleaf) portraying Zarina.
Truth Be Told was created and executive produced by Nichelle Tramble Spellman (Justified, The Good Wife). Maisha Closson (Chicago P.D., How to Get Away with Murder) is set to run as the showrunner for the third season. Additional executive producers include Spencer, Closson, Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions), Mikkel Nørgaard (Klown, Department Q: The Keeper of Lost Causes), and Lauren Neustadter (Big Little Lies, Little Fires Everywhere) for Hello Sunshine; Jenno Topping (St. Vincent, Hidden Figures) and Peter Chernin (Hidden Figures, St. Vincent) for Chernin Entertainment; and Brian Clisham (Right to Try, The Bobby Love Story) for Orit Entertainment.
Truth Be Told will debut on January 20, 2023 only on Apple TV+.
