Apple TV+ Renews ‘Severance’ For Second Season

Ben Stiller’s (Night at the Museum) Apple TV+ thriller series has been renewed for a second season just before the premiere of its first season’s finale episode, according to Variety. The series stars Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Patricia Arquette (Medium), John Turturro (The Big Lebowski), Britt Lower (Holly Slept Over), Zach Cherry (Drunk Bus) and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon).

Severance follows Scott’s Mark Scout, who oversees a team of employees at Lumon Industries that have gone through a severance procedure, which surgically splits up their memories between their work and personal lives – creating the ultimate work-life balance. Throughout the first season, Mark must uncover this mystery and force himself to confront the nature of his job.

Dan Erickson (Blood Sisters) serves as showrunner and executive produces the series with Mark Friedman (Night at the Museum), Chris Black (A Perfect Chord), John Cameron (Joe vs. Carole) and Andrew Colville (Mad Men).

“It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show — and the level of fan engagement,” Stiller said in a statement. “It has been a long road bringing Severance to television. I first read Dan’s pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi season story and I’m really happy we get to continue it. I’m grateful to our partners at Apple TV+ who have been behind it the whole way. Praise Kier!”
