Apple TV+ Releases ‘The Morning Show’ Season Two Teaser Trailer

The sophomore season of The Morning Show is preparing to make the morning news this fall when it begins streaming on Apple TV+. According to TVLine, The Morning Show is set to return on September 17 and has released the first teaser trailer for the new season.

In the new trailer, it is revealed that Jennifer Aniston’s (Friends) Alex Leavy has quit The Morning Show, leaving Reese Witherspoon’s (Big Little Lies) Bradley Jackson to host the show on her own. Following the topical nature of the first season, The Morning Show teaser hints that the show’s second season will represent the media’s coverage of the global pandemic. Additionally, the teaser trailer gives viewers their first look at Laura Peterson, Julianna Margulies’ (Snakes on a Plane) new character, via TVLine.

The Morning Show‘s showrunner, Kerry Ehrin (producer, Friday Night Lights) revealed that “Laura started kind of like a Dateline show. She’s a UBA star and an icon at a Diane Sawyer level. We wanted to create a mentor figure for [Witherspoon’s] Bradley that was somebody who does things differently. The idea really stemmed from having a character who had done the work and what that looked like in this industry and in the UBA environment. She’s at the top of her game.” (TVLine)

Other familiar faces could be spotted in the new trailer, including Billy Crudup (The Big Fish) as UBA executive Cory Ellison and Steve Carrell (The Office) as disgraced anchor Mitch Kessler. Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed) will also be returning as The Morning Show producer, Chip Black. According to TVLine, The Morning Show‘s second season is set to be ten episodes, each releasing weekly on Fridays following the September 17 premiere.
