Deadline shares Apple TV The Buccaneers season 2 release date, casting, and first look. The series brought on the well-known actress Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) to star as Nell, a new character introduced in season 2. The show is set in the 1870’s revolving around five women sent out to find husbands. With drama and love stories the show became quite popular. Apple TV shared the log line “A group of fun living American girls burst into the scene in tightly corseted 1870s London, kicking off an Angle-American culture clash. Sent out to secure husbands and status the buccaneers’ hearts are set on so much more than that”. Check out the teaser below.
The series was inspired by the novel by Edith Wharton The Buccaneers. Originally the novel was unfinished, however given the pick up from Apple TV the series is able to be written following the guidelines from the novel.
The teaser reveals the beloved characters returning to the small screen. Some familiar faces we see are Matthew Broome (My Fault: London), Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why), and Josie Totah (Spider-Man: Homecoming) who will all be reprising their roles. The new season will feature the group’s friends, this time married. After their marriage quest was fulfilled, we’ll see these characters grow into themselves and find new dramas within their lives. Some dramas include Kristine Frøseth (Looking For Alaska) who plays a newly wed duchess. Frøseth must adjust to a royalty lifestyle, after marrying the Duke of Tintagel. Frøseth made a split decision last season to marry the Duke to protect her sister from an abusive marriage. The marriage granted peace between the two families and ultimately secured the safety of her sister. Fans highly anticipate the season 2 premiere on June 18, 2025, streaming on Apple TV for an update on the couple. With an eight-part series viewers speculate what will happen. Tune in on June 18th to get the series update.
