The upcoming spy thriller series entitled Tehran has been announced to premiere on September 25 on the streaming platform Apple TV+, according to Deadline. The series acts as co-production with Israel’s Kan 11 channel as Apple purchased the series’ international distribution rights in June 2020. Additionally, the show was created by Dana Eden (Magpie), Maor Kohn, and Moshe Zonder (Fauda). Despite the announced premiere for the Apple streaming service, the series has already been released in Israel on June 22. Regardless, the spy thriller drama series will be more readily available for a global audience come late September.
Tehran centers around Tamar Rabinyan who is embarking on her first mission as a Mossad hacker in which she must find a way to disable Iran’s air defenses in order to allow for the Israeli military to oversee the Iranian nuclear plants. Despite working for the Israelis, Tamar happens to have been born in Iran and struggles with her return to her birthplace. The cast features Niv Sultan (The Orpheus Project, Flawless) as Tamar, Navid Negahban (Homeland, Aladdin, Legion), Shaun Toub (Iron Man, Crash), Menashe Noy (Rutenberg), Shervin Alenabi (Gangs of London), Liraz Charhi (A Late Quartet), and many more.
The Apple TV+ series’ first season consists of eight episodes and the platform will make the first three episodes of the season available on September 25 before transitioning to weekly release structure for its remaining episodes. Currently, Apple TV+ offers a seven-day free trial and subscriptions starting at $4.99 per month. Despite the announced premiere date, there is no trailer readily available for the upcoming series Tehran.
