Anthony Mackie, Who Portrays Falcon, Compares New Disney+ Series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ to a MCU Full-Length Film

Anthony Mackie (8 Mile) who portrays the Falcon in the new Disney+ project The Falcon and the Winter Soldier compared the series production to a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The series will be executive produced by Kevin Feige (Iron Man), president of Marvel Studios, according to Variety.

The most notable difference is the project’s budget. Although the series is reported to have cost $150 million to make, this sum amounts to less than half of the $350 million price to create the latest movie Avengers: Endgame without factoring in advertising.

In an Actors on Actors issue with Variety, Mackie had an opportunity to speak with Hamilton’s Daveed Diggs about his Falcon role reprisal alongside Sebastian Stan (Captain America: Civil War), who will play the Winter Soldier.

Mackie first mentioned that shooting in Europe, which was halted in March due to coronavirus, was the first time he’d felt budget restraints in a Marvel production. However, that did not dim his excitement for the overall project.

As told to Variety, Mackie said, “Those movies are like summer camp. And this show, it was no different. It was the same group of people, coming together to make it work. And so the stunt stuff — everything is just on another level. Every show, every movie, they just push it — they push the envelope so much. So hopefully, knock on wood, we’ll be going back soon.”

On top of the Marvel movie feel of the series, as said by Mackie during the interview, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also look like a Marvel film. The video interview is also available below:
