The Mindy Project alum, Anna Camp and the GCB alum Jennifer Aspen have been tapped to star in ABC’s Lauren Iungerich comedy pilot, Damaged Goods, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Damaged Goods from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich centers on the sexual politics that have changed between men and women in the post-feminist era.
The single-camera comedy project follows Camp, the actress, who has recurred on The Mindy Project and True Blood, will star as Nicole, a smart and successful attorney who is totally bewildered and betrayed when her boyfriend Tim (Smallville’s Justin Hartley) tells her that he can’t be happy for her or continue to date if she takes the promotion she was offered at the law firm where they both work — the promotion he expected to get.
Aspen, who starred on the network’s GCB, has been cast as Alexis, Nicole’s older and outspoken sister who is married with two and a half kids (“one is really small”).
In Damaged Goods, Alexis instructs Nicole to choose her dreams over a guy who is threatened by her — especially a guy like Tim, whom Alexis has never liked.
For Camp, the casting comes more than a year after the actress was downgraded from her series regular role on Fox’s The Mindy Project. More recently, Camp reprised herself in her role as Sarah Newlin on HBO’s True Blood and she reunited with Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin in his TBS comedy Ground Floor.
Camp’s credits include How I Met Your Mother and The Help and she’s repped by UTA, Authentic Talent and Schreck Rose.
Aspen is repped by Innovative Artists and Luber Roklin and her credits include stints on Two and a Half Men, Private Practice, Franklin & Bash, Glee, Rodney and Party of Five.
Both actresses join a cast that also includes Steve Talley, Ben Lawson and Kellee Stewart in the single-camera comedy from Warner Bros. Television. Declan Lowney serves as co-executive producer and director on the pilot.
