Animated comedy, Gerald’s World in the works at 20th Century Fox TV. Actor and producer Dillon Francis, and writer Spencer Porter who also pinned Family Guy from 2005-2012 are set to help produce the show.
Gerald’s World is based on Francis’ best friend and popular character, Gerald–a piñata. Francis is a highly recognizable DJ and producer known for pioneering the Moombahton category and becoming increasingly popular with producer and DJ, Diplo. Francis’ satyrical web series Like and Subscribe was a major factor contributing to his growing following. The web series garnered attention with a stunt inviting “influencers” to have their picture taken in front of a mural in Los Angeles. Also, in the past, Francis’ instagram has been filled with silly videos featuring the DJ.
In the series Gerald will be portrayed as Francis’ closest confidant. The announcement came in between his performances at Coachella. Coachella is just one of many festivals that he’s performed at. Lollapalooza, EDC and Electric Zoo are also included. He’s also had a recently sold-out tour in North America and had record breaking crowds in Brazil, France, Australia and Chile. In the past Francis has worked with Zedd, G-Eazy, DJ Snake and more. Francis once produced a DJ-based web series parody of The Real World, a MTV reality show. Francis and Spencer Porter executive produce the series, while Mary Viola produce through Wonderland Sound and Vision, along with Corey Marsh.
