Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Devious Maids) has been cast as the lead role on HBO Max’s new drama series More, via Deadline. Ortiz will replace Veronica Falcón (Ozark, Jungle Cruise), decision made after the table read, according to Deadline. Ortiz will star alongside Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead, Selena: The Series), and will play Leona Lorenz, via Deadline
The series follows the Lorenz family, a tight-knit clan of seemingly flawless Latinas led by the mother and mastermind Leona. The Lorenzes are considered the Vanderbilts of the Instagram world, and the series draws many similarities and parallels to the Kardashian family, according to Deadline. Drawing influence from “momager” Kris Jenner for Leona, the series shows the Lorenzes as they forge billion-dollar mega conglomerate from influence after pulling themselves up from debt to reality TV stardom, via Deadline.
Ortiz’s character Leona Lorenz is a single mother and matriarch of the Lorenz family dynasty, and she uses her scrappy business knowledge to pull percentages from the businesses of her glamorous four daughters: Serratos, Ceci Fernandez, Yvette Monreal, and Georgie Flores, according to Deadline. The series challenges the stage mom as she acquires more fame and power while struggling to hold the grip on her daughters, via Deadline.
Ana Ortiz is known for playing Hilda Suarez in Ugly Betty, and more recently known for playing Isabel, Victor’s mother on Hulu’s Love, Victor, spin-off of Love, Simon.
