‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ Pays Tribute To Bob Saget

During Sunday night’s broadcast, ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos paid tribute to former host Bob Saget who died on January 9, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe Full House star was found dead in his Florida hotel room at the beginning of January, and his cause of death is still unknown.

“As you’ve heard, the world lost a legend last week, and AFV lost a family member,” host Alfonso Ribeiro (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) said. “Bob Saget is synonymous with AFV to this day, and this show wouldn’t have been the same without his unique sense of humor. It’s ,y honor to continue carrying the torch Bob so brightly lit.”

Saget’s tribute including a montage of comical clips showing the host’s time on AFV. One clip showed Saget talking with then-host Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars) during the show’s 20th anniversary celebration. Bergeron took over hosting for Saget after his departure in 1997.

After the news of Saget’s death was made public, he was publicly mourned by many in Hollywood, including the Full House cast, and his widow, Kelly Rizzo (Unfiltered with Kelly Rizzo).

The Saget family said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today. He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

Rizzo shared a picture with her late husband on Instagram, alongside a caption paying tribute to Saget.

The cast of Full House also released a statement, via The Hollywood Reporter“Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family.”

Saget served as AFV‘s first host, and continued for nearly a decade. The show’s tribute can be viewed below.
