‘American Horror Story: 1984’ Releases Season 9 Trailer

FX dropped the first official full-length trailer for American Horror Story: 1984. The trailer appears to take on the prototypical 1980’s slasher film vibes, complete with lots of screaming, running through woods, and blood. The upcoming season will follow a group of teens at summer camp who are stalked by a deranged murderer circa 1984.

AHS: 1984‘s cast includes: Emma Roberts, Gus Kenworthy, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Cody Fern, Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross and John Carroll Lynch, and several others. Earlier this summer in July, each aforementioned cast members were introduced through a short screen test compilation video.

Creator Ryan Murphy posted via his Instagram with the caption: “To celebrate the first day of filming the NINTH Season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, here’s the official 1984 cast announcement along with some amazing 80s lewks. Enjoy!”

However, other news has been confirmed that staple cast mate, Evan Peters, will not be returning for the series’ upcoming season, despite AHS alumna Sarah Paulson confirming she will make a small guest appearance, but dramatic nonetheless.

American Horror Story is an anthology horror television series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk for the FX back in 2011, where each season was produced as a self-contained miniseries. Throughout the years, each anthology has followed a series of different characters, settings, and storylines, despite numerous actors returning to reprise some kind of role —various plot elements during each respective season are loosely inspired by true events, with some seasons existing within the same shared universe.

The show has been well received by television critics, with the majority of the praise going towards the cast, such as Jessica Lange, who won two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performances. Actress Kathy Bates and James Cromwell also won an Emmy Award for their respective work on the series, with Lady Gaga also winning a Golden Globe Award.
