Deadline writes that Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot, Narcos: Mexico) has joined American Blue from HBO Max. Garcia is said to play Kevin Martinez, nicknamed ‘Kmart’, a detective that has PTSD and is unable to cope day-to-day, and only seems to get worse.
According to Deadline, the cast that has been announced as of now is Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Dad!, The Beauty) who plays Sergeant Paul “PJ” Booker, Jess Gabor (School Spirits, Christy) who plays Suze Dombrowski, Kelly Jenrette (Grey’s Anatomy, Circle Round) who plays Meg Jackson, Onye Eme-Akwari (The Good Doctor, First Shift) who plays Darryl Andrews, Milo Ventimiglia (I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario, I Can Only Imagine 2) who plays Brian “Milk” Milkovich, and Carlito Olivero (The Lincoln Lawyer, Wonder Man) who plays Mike Ortiz.
Deadline notes that the one-hour drama pilot focuses on native son Brian “Milk” Milkovich’s (Ventimiglia), return home to Joliet, IL, to help out an overwhelmed police force while seeking to heal his own suffering. The new HBO Max series is created by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural, Doom Patrol) and produced by Warner Bros Television where Carver has an overall deal. David Ayer (Training Day, The Fast and the Furious) will direct the first episode.
Additional cast members include Paulina Olszynski as patrol officer Lisa Matichak; Algee Smith as a rookie officer Andre Quick; Jermey Bobb as Joe Bebar, a vet who’s burned out and angry with the world; and Rich Sommer is Ray Kaluza, the department’s Chief of Police.
Carver (Dead Boy Detectives, Doom Patrol) will serve as the showrunner and executive producer of the series, along with Brian Udovich (We’re All Gonna Die, Only the Good Survive), Neil Reynolds (The ‘Burbs, You), and Ayer (A Working Man, Bosco). Ventimiglia and his long-time partner, Russ Cundiff (Chosen, Ultradome), are co-executive producers. Warner Bros Television will produce the pilot.
