AMC’s 11th and Final Season of ‘The Walking Dead’ To Premiere in Summer 2021

Following the news that season 11 will be its last, AMC’s original zombie apocalypse series The Walking Dead will premiere the final season in the summer of 2021, according to Screen Rant. In short clip released alongside the premiere of season 10C’s episode “Home Sweet Home,” the network unveiled the news of the final season’s premiere. The on-going new episodes are a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that saw delays in production and allowed for a delayed release of some of its episodes which have featured the return of Lauren Cohan (The Vampire Diaries) as Maggie Greene to the long-running program.

The Walking Dead centers around a group of survivors in the United States following a worldwide zombie apocalypse. The series used to feature Andrew Lincoln’s (Love Actually) Rick Grimes as its lead before his departure in season nine in preparation for an expected feature film revolving around his character. In the meantime, season ten has expanded to include six additional bonus episodes which are in the process of being aired on AMC currently. The AMC original is a comic book adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s series under the same name is overseen for television by showrunner Angela Kang (Terriers) and executive producer Scott M. Gimple (FlashForward).

The news of its cancellation was surprising to many. However, the show has continued to build its zombie universe with spin-off series such as Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Additionally, there is a rumored spin-off series starring Norman Reedus (Boondock Saints) as Daryl and Melissa McBride’s (The Happys) Carol as well.

Season 11 of The Walking Dead has already begun production and filming in February 2021. Despite the announcement of the season’s premiere, it is still uncertain when this collection of final episodes will be aired on AMC. Check out the clip released below:
