The third part of The Walking Dead season ten kicks off on AMC on February 28, although AMC+ subscribers will be able to access it one week early, as reported by Bleeding Cool. In advance of the momentous premiere, the network is giving fans of the long-running zombie horror drama a taste of what they can expect from the episode’s opening moments, according to Comic Book. The show’s official YouTube channel uploaded an unlisted clip from the episode on February 17. The excerpt features a tense confrontation between Maggie (Lauren Cohan, Whiskey Cavalier) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Magic City). Enjoy the sneak peek below:
Negan’s reference to the act of escape in the clip above alludes to the fact that the last time the two spoke, he was in prison, according to Comic Book. In the twelfth episode of season ten, “Walk With Us,” it was revealed that Carol (Melissa McBride, The Happys) broke Negan out of jail and forged a secret alliance with him on the condition that he kill Alpha (Samantha Morton, In America), as reported by ScreenRant.
The road to reconciliation will be especially rocky for Maggie and Negan, as the two have a troubled history, to say the least. In the fifth episode of season nine, “What Comes After,” Maggie refuses to assassinate Negan in his jail cell because she realizes that his death would reunite him with his late wife Lucille (Hilarie Burton, One Tree Hill) and therefore would not be a fitting punishment, Entertainment Weekly reports. Maggie yearns to see Negan suffer because he murdered her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun, Minari) during the season seven premiere, according to ScreenRant. Cohan recognizes that Maggie’s upcoming journey towards clemency will be a lengthy and arduous one: “Forgiveness is liberating. I suppose we’ll get to see to what degree she has decided to liberate herself,” via Comic Book.
During a Walker Stalker Con panel event in autumn 2019, Morgan noted that Maggie’s split from the main group of survivors means that she has not borne witness to Negan’s gradual change of heart as expressed in selfless acts of kindness, such as when he rescued Daryl’s dog and Judith (Cailey Fleming, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) during a blizzard in the season nine finale “The Storm,” according to Forbes. “I don’t think Maggie’s gonna like Negan. I’m not sure that’s going away… I would imagine there would be some sort of confrontation, or ten… She hasn’t seen what Negan’s done, or who he’s become,” Morgan explained, via Comic Book.
“Home Sweet Home,” the first of six episodes from the third part of The Walking Dead‘s extended tenth season will air on AMC on Sunday, February 28 at 9 P.M. Eastern, but arrives on the network’s SVOD platform AMC+ on February 21. The five additional installments in Season 10C will allegedly be broadcast on a weekly basis until April 4, according to Bleeding Cool. AMC announced in September 2020 that season eleven, which is currently being filmed, is fated to be the series’ final season.
