AMC+ set the premiere date, sneak peek clip for its buzz-worthy new drama, Yaga. In a press release on Sept. 14, the streamer announced that the first two episodes will debut in the U.S. on Friday, Oct. 23, exclusively on AMC+.
Yaga’s world premiere will take place ahead of its U.S. release at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 17. Additionally, the series will have a panel at New York Comic Con Oct. 9, where fans can see exclusive content for the upcoming drama.
The eight-episode series will consist of half-hour episodes, with new episodes debuting every Friday. The series will conclude with a two-episode finale on Friday, Nov. 27.
Yaga is a mystery thriller that reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga. The series is based on the well-received play by Kat Sandler, who serves as the show’s writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
AMC+ released the official logline for the series which reads: “It follows Rapp (Noah Reid, Schitt’s Creek, The Vampire Lestat), a private investigator who arrives in the small coastal town of Whittock, to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (Hudson Williams, Heated Rivalry). He finds himself at odds with an apprehensive local detective, Carson (Clark Backo, Venom: The Last Dance, Letterkenny), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss, Matrix Films, Memento), and a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.”
The cast also includes Sheila McCarthy (Anything for Jackson, Women Talking), Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables, Reign), Ezra Franky (Untamed, Kanagawa), Patrick Gilmore (The Audacity, School Spirits), Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps, American Mary), and Hiro Kanagawa (Grave Halloween, American Dragons), along with Emilija Baranac (The Wrong Paris, Fakes), Georgia Acken (Lucid, The Sacrifice Game), Anisa Harris (Cheer Squad Secrets, Yellowjackets), and Sam Krochmal (Worlds Apart, Fire Country).
Yaga will be co-directed by David Frazee (Borealis, Dangerous Attraction) and Rachel Talalay (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, Good Omens). The series’ executive producers include Mackenzie Donaldson (The Abnormal Beauty Company, Bif Naked), Andrew Miller (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Tremors), and Moss. Charles Cooper is the producer (Love, Again, I’ll Be Seeing You).
