According to Deadline, AMC has released the first official teaser trailer for the upcoming six-episode limited series, Monsieur Spade. The crime drama will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2024.
The series follows legendary private investigator Sam Spade, played by Clive Owen (Inside Man, Children of Men), as he enjoys his peaceful and quiet retirement in the South of France, which contrasts his days as a detective in San Francisco. However, everything is changed by the return of an old adversary. Six nuns at the local convent are murdered and secrets emerge as the town grieves. Spade discovers that the murders are connected to a mysterious child who is said to have great powers.
Monsieur Spade is created by Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit, Out of Sight) and Tom Fontana (Copper, City on a Hill). The series is based on the 1930 classic novel The Maltese Falcon written by Dashiell Hammett (The Thin Man, The Glass Key). Frank and Fontana both serve as writers and executive producers and Frank directs. It is co-produced by Haut et Court TV and Black Bear in conjunction with the Dashiell Hammett Estate.
International distribution outside of North America is handled by FilmNation Entertainment.
Carole Scotta (Heading South, Normal), Caroline Benjo (Human Resources, Time Out), Michael Heimler (The Rental, Dumb Money), David Helpern (Hollywood on Trial, Something Short of Paradise), Barbara Letellier (The Class, Only the Animals), Barry Levinson (Sleepers, Rain Man), Carlo Martinelli (We Made This Movie, Charlie Countryman), Teddy Schwarzman (At Any Price, Light of My Life), and Owen exceutive produce the series.
Along with Owen, the cast includes Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game, Vienna Blood), Cara Bossom (Deep State, Radioactive), Jonathan Zaccaï (The Bureau, Serial Lover), Louise Bourgoin (In and Out, A Happy Event), Denis Ménochet (The Beasts, Custody), Rebecca Root (Boy Meets Girl, The Rising), Chiara Mastroianni (Beloved, On a Magical Night), and Stanley Weber (Outlander, Borgia).
