According to Comicbook, AMC has recently announced the start of production of season two of their supernatural drama Mayfair Witches. It has also been stated by the network Thora Birch (Hocus Pocus) and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs) will be guest starring in the series while Alyssa Jirrels (Fatal Attraction) has been added as a series regular. The series, based on Anne Rice’s (Queen of the Damned) book trilogy, is scheduled to premiere in late 2024.
Mayfair Witches based on Rice’s novel follows neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding who discovers she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. Cast members for the series include Alexandria Daddario (The White Lotus) as Rowan Fielding, Tongayi Chirisa (American Horror Story) as Ciprien Grieve, Jack Huston (Kill Your Darlings) as Lasher, Harry Hamlin (Clash of the Titans) as Cortland Mayfair, Beth Grant (Donnie Darko) as Carlotta Mayfair, Annabeth Gish (Mystic Pizza) as Deirdre Mayfair, and Hannah Alline (Doom Patrol) as Suzanne.
According to Comicbook, Birch will be playing the role of Gifford Mayfair who is described as a self-deprecating tarot card reader and wannabe bohemian. Levine will be taking on the role of Julien Mayfair, the father of Cortland, who is a master manipulator and a diabolical presence that haunts the rest of the family. Last to join the family is Jirrels who will be playing Moira Mayfair, Rowan Fielding’s cousin who is a mind reader. Moria blames the rest of the family and Lasher for the death of her sister.
According to TVLine, executive producer Esta Spalding (Falling Angels) told them the plot for season two is described as follows: “In the book, Rowan is riding beside Lasher, and he’s the one driving the story. We need to make a show which is about Rowan. There are so many extraordinary parts of that book, and we’re going to honor them, but we’re also going to make Rowan an active part of that story, not just someone who’s beside him having it happen to her.”
Season one of Mayfair Witches is available to stream on AMC+.
