Amazon’s ‘The Power’ Announces Rainn Wilson to Join Cast

The Schrute Beet Farm may be closing for early production on Amazon’s thriller The Power. Rainn Wilson, known for playing the idiosyncratic assistant to the regional manager Dwight Schrute in NBC’s The Office, has been announced to join the new series, according to Variety. Based on Naomi Alderman’s novel of the same name, The Power will revolve around a group of teenage girls who discovered the power of electrocuting individuals on a whim. The show’s cast also includes Leslie Mann (from Knocked Up) in addition to John Leguizamo (from Ice Age and John Wick)

While many recognize Wilson from his NBC sitcom fame, the actor has taken on other roles in both small and big screens. The actor began with small parts in 1999’s Galaxy Quest and 2000’s Almost Famous, followed by a supporting role in the critically acclaimed Juno and his leading role in James Gunn’s black comedy, Super. Recently, the actor has been also announced as a cast member of another Amazon series, Utopia, an adaptation of a UK series. In the upcoming series, Wilson will be a part of the main cast as Daniel Dandon, the arrogant Governor of Washington whose future power is questioned by the girl’s new abilities.

There is no confirmed release date for The Power, however, the ten-episode series will be under the production of Sister Pictures and executive producers Jane Featherstone (from 2019’s miniseries Chernobyl) and Naomi de Pear (from Taboo). Although this series is still in pre-production, it will act as another piece of programming for the Amazon streaming platform after the release of hits such as The Man in the High Castle, The Boys, and Fleabag. For Office fans, it will be exciting to witness Wilson grace the small screen in multiple Amazon series.
