According to Deadline, Sofia Rosinsky (Fast Layne, Faery), Riley Lai Nelet (Altered CarbonAmerican Housewive), Camryn Jones (Cherish the Day, Pacific Rim: The Black), and Fina Strazza (A Christmas Melody, Madame Secretary) have been cast in the streaming platform’s TV adaptation of Paper GirlsThe new series, set to begin filming this year, is based on the graphic novel series by Brian K. Vaughan (Saga, Pride of Baghdad) and Cliff Chiang (Wonder Woman, Human Target).

According to Deadline, the story is set on Halloween of 1988 in the small town of Stony Stream. Our four leads are the newest paper delivery recruits when they find themselves cast in the middle of a battle that transcends time. With the ability to travel to the past and into the future, our young heroes will come face to face with their future selves, and the difficult choice of judging what they see.

Strazza has been cast as KJ Brandman via Deadline. The lone Jewish girl of Stony Stream, she fights to dispel certain perceptions given she comes from the wealthiest family in the town. KJ finds solace when she’s playing field hockey and delivering newspapers, the former being an activity her mother strongly denounces.

Deadline reports Lai Nelet’s Erin Tieng is a second-generation Chinese-American seeking to find her identity between two worlds. All Tieng wants more than anything is to be an American teen, like the ones depicted on her favorite TV shows. But she struggles to reconcile this new Western world with her Chinese roots instilled by immigrant parents.

Jones will play Tiffany Quilkin, according to Deadline. Whip-smart and tech-savvy, Jones is focused on achieving all her goals even if she tends to slant the truth on the way to success. The only child of an interracial couple, delivering papers is just another bullet point marked off on her extensive to-do list.

Rosinsky plays Mac Coyle, the longest-serving paper girl via Deadline. Taking the job over from her older brother, Mac is a loner whose fists do most of the talking. But underneath her hard exterior is a girl attempting to hide an array of insecurity. Her path crossing with the other girls will make her the unlikely leader of the foursome.

According to Deadline, the series is produced by Amazon Studios, Legendary TV, and Plan B. Showrunners Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4, Missing You) and Christopher C. Rogers (Halt and Catch Fire, Lodge 49) will executive produce along with Christopher Cantwell (Our Footloose Remake, The Prototype).

Paper Girls was originally published in October of 2015. The final issue was published in July of 2019.
