Amazon Picks Up ‘Fortitude’ From Defunct Pivot TV

Looks like this series has some fortitude after all.

Terrible jokes aside, The Wrap announced good news for the former Pivot TV show, Fortitude. The series starred Dennis Quaid, Richard Dormer, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Luke Treadaway, Ken Stott, and many others that resided in the isolated town of Fortitude. Richard Dormer played Sheriff Dan Anderssen, who experiences a major emotional upheaval after the violent death of a loved one. Anderssen flees to the woods, and the townspeople of Fortitude are left to their own devices, wondering what happened to their sheriff and who could possibly take his place.

After a new body is discovered, Deputy Eric Odegard (Haraldsson) decides to lead the investigation himself. Amidst all this chaos, Anderssen returns, but not in his regular manner. The former sheriff is wild, dangerous–and who knows what that means for the town of Fortitude?

Fortitude is written by Simon Donald, and produced by Trevor Hopkins and Susie Liggat. After the defunct Pivot TV ended, Amazon picked up the new season. Jane Millichip, the managing director of Sky Vision, was quoted as saying, “Amazon is the perfect home for Fortitude in the U.S. Fortitude is high-end, addictive viewing and perfectly suits Amazon’s scripted portfolio. Amazon has been a keen supporter of the series from the outset, having taken an SVOD window on Season 1. We’re delighted to now extend the relationship and make Amazon the home of our most successful returning Sky Atlantic original drama series.”

Fortitude will premiere on the United States’ Amazon Prime Video sometime this year.
