Amazon Freevee Orders New Court Show ‘Tribunal’ With Judge Judy Sheindlin

Judge Judy Sheindlin (Judge Judy) is back in a big way. A new show called Tribunal has been ordered for production on the streaming platform Amazon Freevee, formerly IMDb Tv. In new story from Variety, the upcoming series will be another courtroom drama but with a twist: a panel of three judges to collectively adjudicate each case.

The other characters in the show, aside from the varying guest plaintiffs and defendants, are the three judges. Judge Tanya Acker is a Yale Law School graduate and civil litigator; Adam Levy is a former New York district attorney and the son of Judy Sheindlin, and Judge Patricia DiMango is a former New York State Supreme Court Justice and Administrative Judge of the New York State Supreme Court.

Sheindlin will be serving as executive producer alongside Scott Koondel (Judy Justice), as well as the show creator. In all accounts, the series appears to be taking the courtroom drama genre and adding an element of American Idol flair to each case hearing. The news for the show also comes shortly after the wrapping of Sheindlin’s other show Judy Justice on Freevee, which has also recently announced it’s getting renewed for a second season.

Judge Judy had the following to say in an interview about the anticipated series covered by Variety: “Tribunal is an exciting new format which combines traditional court with a video-enhanced presentation. The panel of judges offer a dynamic combination of different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions that are unique, unparalleled, and compelling.”

A premiere date for the show has not yet been set.
