Amazon Announces the Acquisition of Musical Drama ‘Jungle’

Amazon Prime Video has announced that the streaming service has acquired the UK drama series Jungle and has put it into series order, according to Deadline. The original streaming series is under the supervision of the British production company Nothing Lost and is overseen by members of the music industry in Junior Okoli and director Chas Appeti, responsible for directing music videos for artists such as Laughta, Mic righteous, and D Double E. The series will be executive produced by this duo in addition to other figures as well. Currently, there is no premiere date announced for the series on the Amazon streaming platform.

Jungle will center around two individuals navigating their ways through the UK grime music scene and will confront the similar obstacles that face them in differing ways within the setting of London. The series is set for a 6 episode count for its first season with each episode consisting of thirty minutes run time. The musical drama series has yet to include any cast members in the upcoming program, but has announced that there will be appearances from artists currently within the UK grime music scene in addition to a collection of British rappers.

Georgia Brown, the Director of European Amazon Originals for Prime Video, commented on the series’ focus on the grime scene. “Jungle will shine a light on the amazing creativity of the UK’s drill, grime and rap music scenes and hopefully empower a varied collection of British storytellers to create captivating content which reflects the diversity of the UK today,” via Deadline. Currently, there is no information regarding the production of the upcoming first season on top of an unannounced cast and estimated premiere date for Amazon Prime Video.
