‘Altered Carbon’ Season 2 Date Revealed

Altered Carbon has finally been given its release date, Deadline has reported, and fans can expect to see the sci fi epic make its return on Feb 27th of this year. Altered Carbon’s first season debuted on February 2nd, 2018, and was met with fairly positive reviews. The first season takes place more than 300 years in the future and follows the journey of Takeshi Kovacs, a mercenary whose consciousness was digitally implanted into another body by Laurens Bancroft, a wealthy and powerful man who wants to use Kovacs’ skills to solve his own murder. In the world of Altered Carbon, it’s possible to digitally transfer a person’s consciousness and memories into another body, making death more of a temporary inconvenience than something that’s permanent. Although the technology is available, this option for immortality is mostly accessible to the super elite.

Because of this, Joel Kinneman starred in the role of Takeshi Kovacs, with Kinneman being the new body, called Sleeves, that the once dead Kovacs inhabited. Anthony Mackey, who will also star in the next season of Altered Carbon, will be inheriting the role of Takeshi Kovacs from Kinneman, effectively becoming a new sleeve for the mercenary. The show will also be starring the likes of Renee Elise Goldsberry, Lela Loren, Simone Missick, Chris Conner, Torben Liebrecht and Dina Shihabi. The showrunner is still Alison Schapker. Laeta Kalogridis executive produces the show alongside James Middleton, Rose Lam, Bradley Fischer, James Vanderbilt, Mike Medavoy, Arnold W. Messer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross. The series is based on Richard Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name. Altered Carbon will also have an anime companion piece written by Dai Sato and Tsukasa Kondo and directed by Jo Nakajima. This anime series, Altered Carbon: Resleeved, will expand on the mythology of the Netflix series sometime in 2020.
