According to Comicbook, Alan Tudyk (Harley Quinn, Doom Patrol) has recently stated that the script for James Gunn’s (The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special) animated series Creature Commandos is the best he has ever read. Tudyk is playing the role of Doctor Phosphorus in the series, which has been written by Gunn himself. During a convention, Tudyk voiced how he is a big fan of Gunn as well as his feelings on the scripts for the first season.
According to Comicbook, during a panel at Megacon Tudyk said, “It’s so so good. It’s what James does very well, where he brings people together, like Guardians of the Galaxy. Where you’re like ‘How do a raccoon and a- what the hell? Who are all these people?’ And, then they’re just the best group. So yeah I’m looking forward to when you see that.”
Tudyk added, “I look at the one sheet, and it’s like Frankenstein’s in there. And some chick with her…like…she’s got a fish head, she’s got water on her head’ and I’m like, ‘Where do all of these…Weasel…how do they fit together? This is…this looks bad, maybe?’ And then I’m like a guy who looks a lot like Ghost Rider, but it’s not, it’s Doctor Phosphorous, it’s DC, a whole different thing, and it’s the best thing I’ve read.”
Many DC Studio fans are excited for Gunn’s Creature Commandos whose cast other, than Tudyk, includes Russ Bain (Lift) as Craic Brothers, Viola Davis (Suicide Squad) as Amanda Waller, Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) as G.I Robot, Indira Varma (Rome) as Bride of Frankenstein, David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Eric Frankenstein, and Frank Gillo (What If…?) as Rick Flag Sr.
Creature Commandos is scheduled to premiere on Max in late 2024. The series will start off the new DCU, followed by many more series and films.
