Adult Swim’s Smiling Friends will come to an end after its third season. The series never failed to bring joy and laughter to many who watched it and now it will be time for us to say goodbye.
For those who don’t know, the series was created by Zach Hadel (Mewgenics, The Amazing Digital Circus) and Michael Cusack (Damo and Darren, Crocodile and Cube: In the studio), where the show centered around a group of employees at a small firm where their job is to make their customers smile. The series goes to many lengths to show the audience that the job is rarely as simple as it seems. The series gained a great following but the creators felt burned out and accomplished with the three seasons that came out for the series so far. According to Variety, the creators issued this statement, “‘To be perfectly honest, after we finished Season 3, Zach and I just both had the same feeling where we felt pretty burnt out after putting years and years into this, but also pretty accomplished,’ Cusack added. ‘We just came to this feeling where we were like, ‘I think that could just be it,’ after Season 3.'”
The cast consists of Hadel (Mewgenics, The Amazing Digital Circus), Cusack (Damo and Darren, Crocodile and Cube: In the studio), Marc M. (Haha, You Clowns, Bridge Kids), Joshua Tomar (Starter Squad, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond), Erica Lindbeck (Helluva Boss, City the Animation), David Dore (Royal Crackers, Smiling Friends), Hans Van Harken (The Illusion of Choice, Gold Gold Adventure Gold), Rodrigo Huerta (Working with Jigsaw, Life Is Brutal), Harry Partidge (Starbarians, Chrono-critique), Monica Franco (Helluva Shorts, Class Acts), and David Firth (Floor 999, Bullet Time).
There is some good news, before the series wraps up there will be two new episodes dropping on April 12, 2026. In the meantime you can watch the series on HBO Max while you wait for the final two episodes.
