Adult Swim Greenlights Two New Animated Series

If ever there was a place for adult-themed animation, Adult Swim is undoubtedly the place to be.

Deadline reported today that the network has ordered two new series to round out their animation catalogue. The series included in this deal were Apollo Gauntlet and Hot Streets, with both expected to debut in 2017.

Mark Langlois created the first series to debut, Apollo Gauntlet, which follows a man named Paul Cassidy. While he may seem like a run-of-the-mill cop, this “average man” gets transported to a futuristic medieval society by the ironically named Dr. Benign. Cassidy will have to use the aid of magical suits and objects to fend off the tyrannical evildoer all while being entirely clueless about his new world. Mondo’s animation studio, Six Point Harness and Mosaic, are producing the series alongside Langlois. Apollo Gauntlet will be hitting the Adult Swim screens shortly, as it premieres this summer.

On the other hand, Hot Streets will not be gracing our screens until this fall. Created by newcomer Brian Wysol, Hot Streets is about a family of supernatural sleuths. The main character (FBI Agent Mark Baranski) works alongside his partner, niece, and (adorably) his niece’s dog to investigate all matters of the supernatural. While this is the first series Wysol has created, the writer has worked on Adult Swim shows such as Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken. His inaugural series is produced by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.
