ABC Reveals Fall Schedule, Trailers for New Shows

It’s that time of year again. As the current television season ends, networks have begun preparing where new and old shows will appear on their nightly schedules. After NBC and Fox released their schedules, ABC has done the same, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Most of the fall schedule for ABC looks similar to its schedule it currently has with just a few shows on the move. ABC looks like it’s trying to solve its Tuesday 10 p.m. timeslot probably by moving fan favorite show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. in order to stabilize the timeslot. This past season, Wicked City aired in the timeslot and was canceled after three low-rated episodes. Of Kings and Prophets, the midseason show in the 10 p.m. timeslot, was canceled after two episodes, also due to low ratings, according to Deadline.

One big omission from the fall schedule is Shonda Rhimes’ popular drama Scandal. Don’t worry, gladiators. The show hasn’t been canceled. Instead, the show will premiere in the midseason since the show’s lead, Kerry Washington, is pregnant with her second child. Taking over Scandal’s 9 p.m. Thursday timeslot is the new drama Notorious, which is about a producer on a news show and its 24 hour news cycle. The show is set to star Piper Perabo. Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder will keep their same timeslots on Thursdays (8 and 10 p.m., respectively).

Also set to premiere on the network is Kiefer Sutherland’s new drama Designated Survivor (sorry, 24 fans, he won’t be a part of the reboot that’s happening on Fox). The show stars Sutherland, a cabinet member who happens to become president after a series of unfortunate events. The show also stars Maggie Q, Kal Penn and Chasing Life‘s Italia Ricci. Designated Survivor will air Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.

For fans who already miss Agent Carter, they don’t have to wait long to see leading lady Hayley Atwell in a new show on the network. Monday nights at 10 p.m., ABC will air Conviction, in which Atwell plays the main character.

On the comedy side, American Housewife is slated to appear in the 8:30 p.m. timeslot on Tuesdays. The show is about a mother of three who has a fuller figure than some of the other moms in the town they live in.

Rounding out the new shows premiering in the fall is Minnie Driver’s Speechless, which is about a family, where one of the kids has special needs. Minnie Driver will play the mom and Micah Fowler, who has cerebral palsy, will portray the son.

ABC has also released the trailers for their shows that premiere in the midseason, including the newest Shonda Rhimes show Still Star Crossed, which takes place after the deaths of Romeo and Juliet and shows how the families are still feuding.

All of this was announced during ABC’s upfronts presentation, which took place on May 17. Each of the major networks (NBC, Fox, ABC, CBS and the CW) have an upfronts presentation, which is used to show advertisers the different shows on the networks in order to get more ad money. Network upfronts usually occur in mid-May each year.

No premiere dates for the shows have been announced yet.
