ABC Releases New Trailer For ‘Abbott Elementary’ Season Two

ABC has released a new trailer for the upcoming second season of the network’s hit comedy series Abbott Elementary. The second season of the comedy series will be premiere on September 21st on ABC and will also be streaming on Hulu.

The trailer was released yesterday before the series won three of their seven nominations at last night’s 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. Both Sheryl Lee Ralph (Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit) and Janelle James (Central Park) were nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, which Ralph won, making her just the second black woman to ever win the award. The show’s star, Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show), was nominated for both Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Writing for a Comedy Series, winning the latter. Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Abbott Elementary also won the award for Best Casting in a Comedy Series but lost the Best Comedy Series category to Ted Lasso.

The official description of the show from Hulu reads: “A group of dedicated, passionate teachers – and a slightly tone-deaf principal – find themselves thrown together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do – even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.”

Abbott Elementary stars Brunson, James, Ralph, Williams, Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap), and Chris Perfetti (The Night Of). William Stanford Davis (Across The Hall) and Zack Fox (Pause With Sam Jay) also appeared in recurring roles. Brunson executive produces alongside Randall Einhorn (Parks And Recreation), who also directed eight episodes of the first season, Justin Halpern (Cougar Town), Patrick Schumacker (How To Be A Gentleman), and Brian Rubenstein (Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life).
