The drama series the Black Box is coming to ABC for at least 13 episodes, as reported by Deadline. The drama is written and executive produced by Amy Holden Jones. Also executive producing is Ilene Chaiken, and directing will be Bryan Singer.
Amy Holden Jones is known for her work on screenplays for major films “Mystic Pizza”, “Beethoven”, “Indecent Proposal” and “The Relic”, among others. Producer Ilene Chaiken is perhaps most famous for executive producing the Showtime series the L Word. Other notable projects she has worked on include the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and “Barb Wire”. Director Bryan Singer is currently producing “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, which is due out in 2014.
The Black Box will focus on main character Elizabeth Black, a “world renowned neuroscientist who appears to have it all but is constantly haunted by her own struggle with mental illness,” which she keeps secret, according to Deadline. Black works for the Center for Neurological Research and Treatment, which is also known as the Cube.
Independent production company Bold Films will be producing the series. Some of their previous productions include recent movies “Drive”, “Legion” and “Middle of Nowhere.”
The Black Box will likely begin in January 2014, but the date is certainly dependent on the initial reception, the Hollywood Reporter stated.
